Owens went on to call Jera his muse in several statements which he gave afterwards. Tragedy struck in 1928, when the St. Francis Dam in northern Los Angeles County burst, inundating the towns of Castaic Junction, Fillmore, Bardsdale and Piru with billions of gallons of water and drowning hundreds of residents. An investigation concluded that the rock in the area had been too unstable to support the dam. Though Mulholland was cleared of charges in connection with the incident, his reputation was ruined, and he was forced to resign. The Los Angeles Aqueduct was extended further north by the early 1940s through the Mono Basin Project, finally reaching a total length of 338 miles (544 kilometers).

Semiconductor Equipment Development Case Studies

The dam failure is the worst man-made flood disaster in the US in the 20th century and the second largest single-event loss of life in California history after the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. “When Bill Owens founded Owens Design in 1983, his vision was to create a company where talented engineers and technicians worked together to design and build manufacturing equipment for the emerging high technology companies of the day. Since that time, Owens has developed custom equipment for every new wave of technology emerging from Silicon Valley, from hard disk drives, semiconductors, solar cells, energy storage, medical devices and consumer mobile products.

Throughout this process, the Owens Design team will provide expert guidance on how to manage tradeoffs – and guide you to the best solution. To establish the necessary technical and business alignment, Owens Design will consider your business, key technical challenges, cost, schedule demands, and vision for the project. We'll discuss objectives, obstacles, timelines, and more to gain a comprehensive understanding of what you want to achieve. Following Phase 1, the customer and Owens Design will move on with the tool development and build. The number of men who were on the payroll the first year was 2,629 and this number peaked at 6,060 in May 1909.

Factory Automation Equipment Design & Build

In 1910, employment dropped to 1,150 due to financial reasons but rebounded later in the year. The number of laborers working on the aqueduct at its peak was 3,900.[15][16][17][18] In 1913, the City of Los Angeles completed construction of the first Los Angeles Aqueduct. The city acquired three limestone quarries, two Tufa quarries and it constructed and operated a cement plant in Monolith, California, which could produce 1,200 barrels of Portland cement per day.

With the help of his former boss Fred Eaton (who had also served as mayor of Los Angeles), Mulholland identified a potential solution in the Owens Valley region, located on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada some 200 miles away. The engineers estimated that the Owens River, which ran through this region, could provide more than enough water to meet the needs of a growing Los Angeles. If both parties agree there is a mutual fit, we will propose a Phase 1 as a low-cost, low-risk way to establish your project concept along with cost and timelines. “About 15 years ago, while working at a startup as an engineering director looking for a competent supplier I ran into the Owens Design team. Since that time I started using Owens services and was amazed about the expediency and professionalism with which they addressed our challenges. In early 2014, John and Bob invited me to join the ranks to expand our markets and develop our customer base.

Owens Design Team

In the 1920s, Owens Valley residents grew angry and frustrated after seeing their farms drained of water, nearly every drop of which was pumped into the steadily growing San Fernando Valley. In 1924 and again in 1927, protesters blew up parts of the aqueduct, marking a particularly explosive chapter in the so-called “water wars” that had divided southern California. For a limited time, Anthropologie is offering 30% off a beautiful selection of Mother's Day gifts including jewelry, clothing, shoes, decor and more....

Owens Design (ODI) designs and builds advanced custom manufacturing equipment for technology companies from VC-funded start-ups to S&P500 corporations. For over 35 years ODI has been developing leading edge manufacturing equipment in the Silicon Valley, specializing in the development of complex, high speed, high precision and mission-critical process, metrology and automation factory equipment. In 1956, the State Department of Water Resources reported that Los Angeles was exporting only 320,000 acre-feet (390 million cubic metres) of water of the 590,000 acre⋅ft (730 million m3) available in the Owens Valley and Mono Basin. Three years later, the State Water Rights Board warned Los Angeles that they could lose rights to the water they were permitted for but not appropriating. By 1974, exports climbed to 450,000 acre⋅ft (560 million m3) per year.[29] Unlike the First Aqueduct which was built entirely by Public Works, the Second Los Angeles Aqueduct was primarily built on contract by various private construction firms including R.A. The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power managed the project and performed some finishing construction on the Mojave conduit and Jawbone & Dove Spring pipelines.

If mutual qualification is established, a Phase 1 is a fast, cost-effective way to minimize risk for the most complex custom automation equipment projects, especially those on accelerated schedules. “Shortly after Bill Owens hired me as a Mechanical Design Engineer, I encountered a new experience working directly with customers. I found it rewarding to create and execute plans to bring their equipment to “life,” and my role in managing projects emerged. “Working at Owens Design for over 20 years, it still excites me to see client’s “ideas” and “goals” come in the front door and leave on a truck as complex pieces of machinery. In 1907, Los Angeles voters approved another bond issue for the aqueduct, this time for $23 million, and construction began the following year. Some 4,000 laborers worked at top speed, using new technologies such as the Caterpillar tractor and setting records for miles tunneled and pipe cut.

If you’re an OEM, we’ll discuss your IP and product concept – under NDA and in the strictest confidence. Please send your resume to specifying in the subject line that position in which you are interested. The last segment of pipe, known as the Saugus Pipeline,[34] carries water south past Bouquet Canyon, Soledad Canyon and Placerita Canyon in the city of Santa Clarita. From there it roughly parallels Sierra Highway before it enters Magazine Canyon near the Terminal structure and Cascades. Water from the Terminal structure can then flow to either the Cascade or penstock to the Foothill Power Plant and into the Upper Van Norman Reservoir. We start with in-home consultations and provide space planning, budgeting, selection and design of materials, furnishings, window coverings, lighting and accessories.

This teal and white colour palette harmoniously blends with their innocent spirit and playful side.

Easy Kids Room Decor

Kids need something to fixate on, and winged creatures are always a hit. In this Cape Cod house by Raquel Garcia, a bird-themed wallpaper was central. In a Hamptons retreat by Haynes-Roberts, the message of peace is clear. This room can teach young kids the value of nonviolence via a powerful semiotic statement above the headboard.

Choose furniture that stands the test of time

Nook bed ideas are ideal for maximizing the potential of a child's small bedroom (we love this idea for small guest rooms, too). While her family's cottage may be on Long Island, Today show co-host Jenna Bush Hager made sure elements of Texas made it into the interiors. Portraits by Texas native Natalie Erwin hang over her daughters’ twin beds, each dressed in linens by another Longhorn State designer, Bailey McCarthy (Biscuit). Trust us, regardless of their young age, kids can also appreciate the finer things in life. Create a glam room, like this one, for children of all ages with a taste for pretty and feminine décor by incorporating shades of pink, and fancier accents, like an oversized pendant and a padded headboard.

Choose a multi-tasking bed

Designs brimming with different colors make a great starting point for developing a color scheme for the rest of the room or picking out accent colors for furniture. Listen to their ideas about color and style and then come to a practical compromise. There are plenty of ways that you can incorporate a favorite theme without having to repaint a room. Try starting with a neutral palette such as white or gray and then accessorizing with bedding, toys and prints.

Check out these 10 stunning kids room decor ideas for children of every age. Kids’ room ideas are fabulous places to get creative and let your imagination run riot. Installing a blackout blind and investing in a dimmer switch or night light will also make bedtimes easier.

Glamorous Kids Room Decorating Ideas for Girls

If, however, you look for pale kids' room paint ideas, not only will they keep the feel light, but will give the illusion of space too. Blonde wood is the perfect choice of timber, and it looks great with pastel shades. A clever paint trick that gives an illusion of space is ombre, as shown on the closet doors. Look out for rugs that have multiple colors for extra interest,' says Lucy Searle, Editor in Chief, Homes & Gardens.

Stylish Kids’ Room Ideas That Will Make Grown-Ups Jealous

When not researching the specificities of begonia plant care, you can find Kate scouring vintage markets for the ideal wrought-iron chair, knitting yet another cardigan, or reading historical nonfiction. Window treatments add the finishing touch to a room, pulling together a whole color scheme in one sweep. Choose one that is bright and colorful but works with the rest of the decor. If your child is pining for a treehouse, but you don't have a garden with the space, why not copy this fun kids' bedroom idea and recreate treehouse fun in the bedroom? Choose a raised bed with a ladder and accessorize with plenty of plants for a full-on jungle effect. A colorful kids' room wallpaper can bring added character to a plain, boxy room, making it the ideal choice for both modern and period homes.

Make It Gender Neutral

Window film can be a great option if a bedroom faces a busy road, too and your child needs privacy. Notice how the black bed frame, display board, waste basket, table and chairs are clean and minimal to allow the colors to really pop - especially on this 50-color, washable rug by Sonya Winner Rug Studio. To create a smart-looking scheme, you'll want to start with white wall decor. They will also reflect more sunlight around the room which is not only healthier than artificial light, but can save you a coin or two in electricity costs. Whether they are six or sixteen, boys love all things superheroes, and this room is perfect for your little peanut to grow up in. Framed superhero comics on one wall and a world map sticker on the other is a slick addition to your boy’s room.

Kids' rooms are the perfect place to infuse all colors of the rainbow, but sensory overload can do more harm than good. Instead, start with a clean white canvas and incorporate colors in small doses throughout the room. It's not overwhelming to little brains and looks stylish in your grown-up home to boot. For the kids who tell you they’re pretty, pretty princesses, the pink-on-pink palette in this room designed by Redd Kaihoi sits well within a cocoon of fantastical vines to create the desired effect. The best way to decorate a small kid's bedroom is to embrace the smaller proportions of the room.

Look for pieces made of durable materials, and then paint or decorate them with decorative baskets and containers. Bookcases, mounted shelves, and hanging organizers can all help you maximize vertical space. Under-bed storage organizers are inexpensive and unobtrusive, making them ideal for off-season clothing and toys that have been removed from rotation. You can also shop at vintage and thrift stores for second-hand pieces like dressers and armoires that you can repurpose for storage. Many children are prolific artists; use this to your advantage when decorating their space. Whether they paint masterpieces for the walls or build the most stunning Lego sculpture, they will not only add color and interest to the room, but will also reflect your child’s interests.

A bunk bed is an excellent idea if you have more than one kid and also have a space crunch. A customised bunk bed with staircase railing will allow the child to reach the higher level safely. Placing it opposite to the window will make the room brighter and closer to nature. Today, there is so much you can do to amp up the style quotient of your child’s bedroom. This divide-and-conquer style allows you to make half the room their private play area and saves you the hassle of cleaning your entire house.

This tiny bistro table will make for the perfect place to enjoy tea parties for years to come. A regular dresser and wardrobe may suffice for your room, but kids' rooms deserve a much cooler alternative. These colorful metal lockers by Mustard Made have a nostalgic feel for you and make organizing so much more fun for your little ones. Forts are the coolest addition to any kids' space, and we love how this one is stationary, unlike the ones we used to build out of couch cushions and bed sheets. We love a sports-themed bedroom, but while most show off a modern take, this vintage-inspired space is beautiful as it is fun.

My typical applications are to add just a bit of paprika to many savory dishes to improve the flavor. Not enough so you can taste paprika, just enough so that the paprika makes a difference. I also use it in Chicken Paprikash, there for the paprika flavor. We curated spice bundles to help you get inspiration on your cooking journey. Hungarian Sweet Paprika is steeped in history and tradition.

Chef-Driven Flavors

The medium-hot red jalapeños featured in California Heat are the El Jefe variety grown by Fire Tongue Farms near Santa Cruz, Calif. They’re ripened in the summer heat until they turn red (rather than picked while green like many commercially available jalapeños). Explore the world through the vibrant and fragrant lens of spices. If you're anything like me, sometimes you want a lot of flavor in your meals, and find yourself piling on the seasoning.

Lemon Pepper Seasoning

Fire Tongue Farms also dries and smokes jalapeños for the chipotle peppers used in California Heat. The chipotle peppers in this blend, along with the pimenton from Spain that’s dried over oak coals, are what give California Heat its smoky quality. You can find a jar of chili oil on the tables at countless restaurants and noodle shops in the San Gabriel Valley, but in the last two years, Los Angeles has experienced a chile sauce revolution. In 2018, with kismet and good fortune, business partners Dave Grossman and Dan Yates met and befriended Tom and Patty.

For more than 60 years we’ve been mastering the art of blending freshly ground spices. When the time came, Bill Sr. and Ruth passed ownership of The Spice House to the second generation—Patty Erd and her husband, Tom Erd. Patty and Tom infused the business with their own zeal and creativity, expanding to many more physical locations and bringing the business into the 21st century with the launch of thespicehouse.com. Frequently sought after as expert speakers and guests of honor at culinary events, Patty and Tom continued to build The Spice House’s reputation as a trusted purveyor of the freshest and highest quality spices.

Its unique flavor profile and vibrant color add a touch of authenticity and depth to a wide range of dishes. Today, the spice is an essential component in various traditional Hungarian dishes such as goulash, chicken paprikash, and stuffed peppers. It also enjoys widespread popularity in many international cuisines, from Spanish to American. But what sets California Heat apart is its notes of citrus, from floral-bright lemongrass but especially from black lime. A staple in Persian cooking, these are grown, dried and ground at a small farm in Guatemala and have a distinctive savory-tart-musky flavor. We aimed for a citrusy, capsaicin-forward, complex spice blend that channeled the bright heat of Los Angeles.

Fresh and flavorful spices help build the foundations for delicious cooking. A smoky paprika, fragrant cinnamon, or zesty lime peel can add flavor depth to any creation. Explore our spice specialties to find the perfect, freshly-made spice for your kitchen. I wanted to get a taste of what sets the Spice House apart from the generic aisle at the grocery store—and to me, that meant trying its unique spice blends. This very high quality Hungarian Sweet Paprika from the Kalocsa region of Hungary bears the name Csemege, or Exquisite Delicacy. This all-natural and versatile seasoning is derived from the dried and ground fruits of the Capsicum annuum plant.

Our curated gift boxes of handcrafted seasonings are exceptional gifts for the foodie father. Gift the joy of expertly-seasoned, delicious food with curated spice gift boxes. Shop our spice families to find the perfect spice for tonight's dinner.

Originally a singular brick-and-mortar shop in Chicago, the Spice House opened in the 1950s during a post-war boom of home cooking. Founders Bill and Ruth Penzey had a passion for international cuisine, and they built relationships with farmers from across the globe to seek out the finest spices to bring to their consumers. I have recently used other brands of paprika and I need to use less of TheSpiceHouse paprika presumably because it is fresher. That's not a complaint, it's just a consideration for this and several other spices from TheSpiceHouse. Burlap & Barrel sources single-origin spices directly from small-scale farms around the world. It just made sense to start with jalapeños, the most universally famous chile pepper, named after Xalapa, the capital city of Veracruz state in Mexico.

Thousands of people love our spices, try for yourself and discover why. This Lemon Poppy Loaf is the perfect recipe to kickstart your spring baking! Any baker knows that spices—the best kind, in the right combination—are what set them above the rest. I like all the spices just quiet a few of them are dry rubs which I don't use all that often. For texture and crunch, there are toasty caramelized onions and crispy slivers of garlic and shallot. The Kashmiri chili powder is vibrant red, from an heirloom variety grown in Pampore, Kashmir, that’s a staple of Indian cooking — it was analogous to cayenne with its classic heat.

Their daughter Patty grew up working in the store, wielding large stainless-steel scoops, operating old-style mills and sifters, and acquiring an encyclopedic knowledge of spices. "The Spice House has been providing spices, herbs, blends and extracts to renowned Michelin-star chefs and home cooks for more than six decades." Try all three of our freshly ground cinnamons in one simple set. Hungarian Sweet Paprika from The Spice House is an indispensable spice that should be in every kitchen.

Please note that parking rates may vary depending on the time of day and day of the week. Billing itself as an “Austin-style beer garden,” Katy Trail Ice House has a 50-foot-long bar with 50 beers on tap, natch. It draws crowds thanks to the spacious tree-shaded backyard, which is voted one of the best patios in the city year after year.

Katy Trail Ice House is a must-visit destination for anyone looking for a fun and relaxed atmosphere in Dallas. This Austin-style beer garden and restaurant is open 7 days a week, 365 days a year until 2 am, making it the perfect spot to unwind after a long day or to catch up with friends on the weekends. And if you're in the mood for some BBQ, they have that too! But what really sets Katy Trail Ice House apart is their commitment to giving back to the community. To get to the beer garden and American restaurant located on Routh Street in Dallas, you can take public transport by using DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) bus lines that stop along Routh Street. Alternatively, you can drive and park on any of the open lots or garages located near Routh Street.

Welcome To Katy Trail Ice House

Get the barbecue plate or the burger, and always a side of fries. Hi, I'm Cris Hazzard, aka Hiking Guy, a professional outdoors guide, hiking expert, and author based in Southern California. I created this website to share all the great hikes I do with everyone else out there. This site is different because it gives detailed directions that even the beginning hiker can follow.

The sprawling Katy Trail Ice House seats about 950 people. Get the scoop on the latest openings, closings, and where and what to eat and drink.

This is a backcountry hike and you should prepare accordingly. It's also a hike best left for times when there's no snow or ice. Louie’s is a bar on Henderson with a long menu of burgers, pizzas, and pastas, which help to counteract the multiple martinis you’ll order. Lockhart Smokehouse in Oak Cliff is the perfect post-work hangout for a beer and spice-forward brisket. Bright, crisp afternoons are begging to be spent on the patio of the Katy Trail Ice House. On a sunny Saturday, throw on some shades and wander over to this casual, Austin-style joint. Deep Ellum’s Angry Dog is a dark dive bar with plenty of TVs and bar food, like poutine, fried pickles, and a burger. Bullion in Downtown should be your go to spot for celebrations, with its beautiful space, classic cocktails, and mostly-French menu. “This is really to ensure that the Ice House [in Uptown] will always have plenty of parking.” They’ll get an extra 80 spaces out of it.

His projects typically include architecture, interior architecture, furnishings, art, and accessories. Built in 1929, this church was built for the congregation of St. Phillip the Evangelist Church, the first historically African American congregation in the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles and the second oldest historically black Episcopal parish west of the Mississippi, according to the church’s city landmark application. The structure was designed by Williams, Garrott & Young; the Williams was Paul R. Williams, and the Garrott was James H. Garrott.

A line of faculty offices marks the western edge of the plan, each with a view to the building’s green roof, a visible reminder of the ethics of sustainability that are central to the preservation ethos that provides the conceptual framework for this new construction. A visual sliver of glass in the north and south elevations, the transparent wells of its new fire-stairs, creates a respectful seam that negotiates the addition and the original structure from the exterior, yet, from the interior, frames and underscores the carefully calculated relationships between the two. Meticulously fabricated architectural concrete, together with the contextually fitting stone cladding, vest the addition with a gravitas, a feeling of weight and substance, that honors its historic counterpart. Construction of the addition was facilitated by the removal of the long defunct and dysfunctional stack area of Vol Walker, an inhabitable relic of its original function as university library that defied rehabilitation. We offer a full range of landscape services to make your outdoor space aperfect blend between beauty and functionality.

It was commissioned specifically for the company, once the largest black-owned business west of the Mississippi, and built in 1928. It’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is also a city Historic-Cultural Monument. This two-story structure in Compton, designed by BASE Architecture, serves the community with programs focused on senior citizens, activity spaces, a gym, and a media room. The center is named after Compton’s first black mayor, who was elected in 1969. Beginning in 1981, the California African American Museum operated out of a section of what’s now the California Science Center. In 1984, while the Olympics were underway in LA, the museum’s permanent home opened.

How does your shop make customers feel?

A historic-cultural monument, the Chase Knolls apartment buildings have “a simple and utilitarian modern appearance, with elegant horizontal lines, steel casement windows, and wide overhanging eaves, shading upper windows from the hot Valley sun,” says the LA Conservancy. Vaughn, a black architect, and Wharton went on to design a handful of other garden apartments across LA, including Lincoln Place in Venice and apartments in North Hollywood. A city historic-cultural monument, the house Paul R. Williams designed for himself and his family is a gem in Lafayette Square, a neighborhood of stunning historic homes. The residence is a graceful mix of Hollywood Regency hallmarks—oval spaces, sweeping curves—and more Modernist influences, seen in the home’s International-style exterior, says The Paul R. Williams Project. The house came on the market for the first time ever in December 2017 and sold about three months later for a little under its $2.395 million asking price. When architect Jason E. Morris set out to create a map of Los Angeles to highlight buildings designed by black architects, the body of work he found was smaller than he had hoped.

Landscape Design

As its spatial envelope makes apparent, the Steven L. Anderson Design Center has increased significantly the Fay Jones School’s studio space—the very heart of a school of architecture. Studios occur on all floors, from ground level to the fourth floor. The Ken and Linda Sue Schollmier Lecture Hall, which rises from the first floor to the second floor of the addition’s northwest side, provides a state-of-the-art lecture hall that accommodates approximately 200 seats, as well as a “standing room” gallery. To achieve these design goals, the addition was conceived in plan and massing to harmonize with Vol Walker Hall’s proportions and spatial configuration. The footprint of the addition replicates that of the traditional structure’s entry (eastern portico) wing, physically and conceptually balancing the old and the new. For every part of your home or business, Anderson Design Center has everything you need to create a beautiful, functional space you’ll enjoy for years to come.

Proper watering would not only conserve water and be more drought tolerant but actually improve the overall health of California gardens and landscapes. When a project throws a curveball, designers meet the challenge. Silcott was the first African American project architect for both Los Angeles County and the University of California.

These garden apartments in Sherman Oaks were built between 1947 and 1949 to address the booming demand for housing in the Valley after World War II.

Anderson Design Center is a Hattiesburg, MS-based design firm offering full service residential and commercial design. A member of the Rowe family of retailers since 2020, they originally opened in 1982 with just 5 employees and have since grown to encompass two locations with over 45 employees. The design center showcases a wide array of styles to meet their clients’ needs, and offers a huge selection of custom furnishings such as Rowe, as well as flooring, case goods and lighting. They are also proud to be southern Mississippi’s largest rug source. The fourth (upper-most) floor of the addition also includes a classroom, directly under the 20-feet long rectangular skylight that illuminates the second-floor gallery, another element that bridges historic and new fabric.

“It was all about making the space for my client, without a thought that I would be moving in someday,” Anderson says. Though architect Elmer Grey designed the hotel, Paul R. Williams went on to make many additions to it, updating the lobby, adding on the Crescent Wing of the hotel and its Palm Terrace. I’m not too big on celebrities these days, but any designer that has worked hard and made quality products would be great to meet. Rotterdam was nearly leveled during the World War 2 bombing, leaving it in ruins. The Dutch took the opportunity to preserve what was possible and rebuild the city with modern design and sustainability in mind. Here on my little corner of the internet I share cruise tips, cabin reviews, port guides and packing tips to help you plan a great cruise holiday. You can wander along the canal paths to see the windmills for free. However, there is also a visitor centre and two windmills you can visit if you’d like to learn more about Kinderdijk and how water management has evolved over the years. Around a third of the Netherlands is below sea level and the Dutch have a long history of water management to prevent flooding.

But one of the best ways to really get the most out of your trip to Rotterdam is to discover it on foot or bike and sample the local food and beer. An alternative to The Boijmans, you can look at the Kunsthal, another art facility that appeals to true art lovers. The Cube Houses have become an iconic symbol of Rotterdam’s architectural innovation and are often featured in postcards and promotional materials. They attract both architecture enthusiasts and curious tourists who are intrigued by their unusual designs. Markthal has become an iconic landmark in Rotterdam since its opening in 2014.

In summary, the Cruise Terminal at Maasvlakte 2 offers a modern and scenic environment for cruise ship passengers in Rotterdam. The Cruise Terminal at Cruise Port Rotterdam is a state-of-the-art facility that caters to the needs of both passengers and cruise ships. Located near the city center, this terminal offers a wide range of amenities and services to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for travelers.

The parking facility will only accept Euros on arrival and will not accept credit cards or checks. The parking facility does not offer a shuttle service to the cruise terminal. Based on availability, guests can pay for a taxi to transfer to and from the pier terminal. Overall, the cruise terminals in Rotterdam offer a seamless and enjoyable experience for passengers.

If prices are lower, or if there’s availability on a tour that’s sold out on the Cruise Planner, there’s no harm in booking through a third party. Speaking of excursions, it isn’t necessary to book excursions through Royal Caribbean. The last thing you want to happen is have your dream excursion sell out, leaving you scrambling to find other plans. Plus, excursions tend to only get more expensive over time, so booking early helps you lock in a lower price. Fortunately, after nearly a dozen Alaska cruises, our staff are well versed in the ins and outs of cruising to Alaska. From booking your pre-cruise hotel to utilizing Seattle’s stress-free luggage service, here are our top 24 tips for an Alaska cruise this year.

This is another reason why layers are so important—you never know when you’ll need that t-shirt over your winter jacket. One of my favorite aspects of cruising to Alaska is the pre-cruise stay in Seattle or Vancouver. Not only do both of these cities offer breathtaking natural scenery, but they boast an impressive amount of things to do within the city, too. In Seattle, for instance, you’ll want to research the best way to get from the airport to your hotel, and from your hotel to the cruise port. In most instances, a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft is the most convenient option.

Alaska Family Cruise 2024 – Mountain and Ship Graphic Souvenir Tee

If you booked an interior or oceanview cabin for your 2024 Alaska cruise, consider upgrading to a balcony before your sail date. You’d be surprised by how many activities you can fit into a pre-cruise stay in Seattle or Vancouver. Even if you arrive at 3PM the day before your cruise, you will have around twenty hours in either city before embarkation begins. If your cruise ends in Seward, you’ll want to schedule even more time to catch your flight, as it takes several hours to get to Anchorage from Seward. Luckily, we’ve compiled a list of the best free and low-cost activities to do in each Alaska cruise port, which should help give you some ideas. Shipping policies vary, but many of our sellers offer free shipping when you purchase from them.

The Alaska Family Cruise 2024 Tee is a standout piece in our collection, combining comfort and style. It’s not just a t-shirt, it’s a statement of your adventurous spirit. To ensure you don’t miss out, consider booking a later dinner time, or simply eat dinner elsewhere on the nights the sailaway overlaps with your dining time. In Alaska, on the other hand, you will want to lower your expectations when it comes to weather. It’s challenging to predict whether your cruise will encounter sunny skies and 70 degrees, or seven days of straight rain. Sure, booking your cruise in June usually results in better weather compared to one in September, but weather conditions are never guaranteed.

Cruising Alaska 2024 Together Tee

For those arriving earlier in the day, though, it’s worth it to find a hotel downtown for easy access to tourist sites. Hopefully, if you have an Alaska cruise booked this summer, you’ve already booked your airfare to and from the cruise port. If you have not done so yet, we recommend booking flights as soon as possible. Of course, you’ll want to look at the terms and conditions of each tour operator before booking. Check the tour’s cancellation policies—and whether or not they provide a guaranteed arrival back to port before your ship's departure—before booking.

Due to the popularity of excursions on an Alaska cruise, they can fill up quickly, so it’s important to book excursions well ahead of time. If you have not yet booked excursions for your 2024 Alaska cruise, book them as soon as possible. Our Alaska Cruise Souvenir Tees are not just about memories; they’re about comfort and style too. Made from soft, breathable fabric, these tees are perfect for any climate. Whether you’re exploring the Alaskan wilderness or lounging on the deck, our Alaska Cruise T-Shirts 2024 will keep you comfortable and stylish.

However, your hotel may also provide a shuttle, or you could even take the light rail from the airport to downtown. In addition to airfare, you’ll also want to figure out transportation logistics on land, which can vary from one embarkation city to another. Because you will arrive in your embarkation city the night before your cruise, remember to book your hotel stay sooner rather than later. When booking a hotel in Seattle or Vancouver (or Anchorage/Seward for one-way itineraries), you will want to book a hotel in a convenient location. Therefore, booking a flight too early in the day could cause you to miss the flight if you encounter delays. Stressing over making it to the airport in time is not worth it; instead, the general rule of thumb is to avoid booking flights before noon.

Royal Caribbean sends four cruise ships to Alaska each season, and each ship varies from one another. Although ships in the same class, such as Quantum of the Seas and Ovation of the Seas, share similarities, they still offer varied dining venues, entertainment, and decor. Finding what to wear on an Alaska cruise can be a challenging endeavor. You might encounter varying climates and need different shoes and clothing items depending on the shore excursions you plan to book.
